Ghana’s U-15 national team coach, Yaw Preko, has expressed his satisfaction after guiding the Black Comets to victory in the 2025 Mondialito Promise tournament in Israel.
The Black Comets capped off an impressive campaign with a commanding 4-1 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the final, securing the trophy in style. Ghana’s journey to the title included two dominant wins in the group stage, where they triumphed over Maccabi Petah Tikva and Hapoel Tel Aviv. The final saw a rematch against Maccabi Tel Aviv, replicating the tournament’s opening fixture.
Robinho Gavi, James Ofori, Ebenezer Adjei, and Abdulai Aziz Issah all found the back of the net, with Maccabi Tel Aviv managing a solitary consolation goal in the dying moments of the game.
In an interview with Sporty FM, Preko reflected on the achievement: “I’m a developer, and having been through these stages as a player myself, seeing the excitement on the boys’ faces took me back to the ’80s when we were their age. It’s fulfilling for me as a manager. It shows that I’m doing something positive. We just need to keep working hard, and when the opportunity arises again, we have to make sure we deliver.”
He also shared his observations about the tournament: “The energy of the boys from other teams was different from ours. Their counter-pressing and intensity stood out. While we focus on individual technique and teamwork, we learned a lot from their fighting spirit.”
