The versatile Ghanaian youngster Emmanuel Mensah has been announced as the newest addition to Norwegian club Sogndal IL’s squad after signing him in the ongoing transfer window.
The 19-year-old Ghanaian winger has signed a three-and-half-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2027 as replacement for fellow Ghanaian player Edmund Baidoo who recently signed for Austrian giants FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Mensah joins Sogndal IL from Ghana Division One League side, Koforidua Semper Fi Football Club and is expected to play a huge role for the club. The highly-rated winger was one of the brightest spot for Semper Fi last season.
The talented winger impressed on a two-week trial and has been signed on a permanent deal to continue his career in the European country. He will wear the jersey number 11 at the club.
Speaking after signing the deal, a delighted Mensah said: ”I’m a straight player, good at 1v1, and I’m a fast player. Number 11 is my favorite number, and I’m looking forward to playing, says Emmanuel.”
”I’m enjoying myself in Sogndal so far, and I’m happy to take a step further in my career. Thank you so much to my club in Ghana. He added.
Mensah will be hoping to excel for the Norwegian club as he aim to reach greater heights of his career.
He is expected to follow in the footsteps of former Local Black Stars (Black Galaxies) captain, Isaac Twum and Edmund Baidoo, who previously featured for the club.
Mensah, born in 2005, was part of the Ghana U20 team that won gold at the African Games held in Accra back in March.
His move to Norway marks a significant step of the talented Ghanaian left-winger’s career.
