‘I’m heavier than the No 10 itself, No number scares me’ – Kudus on inheriting Andre Ayew’s Ghana jersey

AFC Ajax Amsterdam star player Kudus Mohammed says the Black Stars jersey number 10 is not a heavy than him.

According to the new Ghana star, no jersey number scares him as a player as he feels heavier than the No 10 itself.

“We’ve not been great recently, but I know what I feel when I speak to the guys. The spirit is really great and this team will come good very soon,” he says. “Maybe not now, but very soon.”

“Heavy for me?” he says. “I’m heavier than the No 10 itself. No number scares me.”

“Well,” he says, then pauses. “If you look at the goals, assists and stuff, probably. But if you think about some other things, not really”, he told The Guardian.

He has won Two man-of-the-match awards and four goals in six Champions League games, including a scorcher at Anfield this season.

Ghana will start their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign with a game against European giant Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash against the Asian powerhouse South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

The Black Stars who are making their fourth FIFA appearance will end their group stage campaign with a clash against Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
