Asante Kotoko’s coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has offered insights into the outstanding performance of striker Kalo Ouattara in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
Kalo Ouattara, the former Berekum Chelsea striker, has emerged as the star player for Asante Kotoko this season in the Ghana Premier League. His crucial goals have played a pivotal role in the recent successes of the Porcupine Warriors. Coach Prosper Ogum has shed light on the reasons behind Ouattara’s success, particularly his effectiveness in set-piece situations.
Ouattara celebrated his recent birthday by gifting himself and the team a crucial goal that secured all three points against Aduana Stars. Coach Ogum expressed his satisfaction, stating, “That is his biggest strength, and I am not surprised he scored. I am happy for him; today is his birthday, and he got himself a birthday gift.”
Ouattara’s ability to score from set pieces has been a significant asset for Kotoko. Dr. Ogum acknowledged this and attributed it to the team’s diligent training methods.
“We are scoring from set pieces; well, it is about the players applying what we teach them in training, and we will continue to capitalize on set pieces when we have the opportunities to do so.”
With two crucial headed goals, Ouattara currently leads his team’s scoring chart.
As Kotoko looks ahead to their match on matchday six against Nations FC in Abrankese, the forward is determined to maintain his remarkable goal-scoring form and contribute to the team’s success in the ongoing season.
