Ghanaians received bad news about left back Abdul Baba Rahman who went unconscious in PAOk’s semi-final clash against Panathinaikos on Wednesday night. The Black Stars defender suffered a severe head injury in the 115th minute and fell unconscious.
Baba Rahman, the former Asante Kotoko and Chelsea left-back has thanked Ghanaians and Greek football fans for their well wishes during a difficult moment yesterday for him.
“Hello, just wanted to thank everyone for their concern and well wishes in the last 12 or so hours. Thankfully I’m recovering well and scans have shown no major damage,” wrote on X by the PAOK defender, Baba Rahman.
“I’d like to also say a big thank you to Georgios Vagiannidis for personally checking in on me at the hospital,” added Rahman.
Georgio Vagiannidis is a 22-year-old defender who plays for Panathinaikos in Athens, Greece. He collided with Ghana’s Baba Rahman which led to his unconsciousness. The Panathinaikos defender checked up on Abdul Baba Rahman when he was admitted to the hospital. Baba personally thanked him for the wonderful care he showed.
“It was a tough night but I’d be back running up and down again soon,” concluded Baba Rahman.
The left-back promised PAOK fans to be back soon. Baba Rahman has been one of PAOK’s best players in the Greek Super League.
PAOK lost 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate draw against Panathinaikos in the semi-finals of the Greek Cup.
