Williams, 30, scored the second goal in the match, helping his team climb the league standings. The Basque club had taken an early lead in the 15th minute when Aitor Paredes slotted home from a precise pass by Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta.
Villarreal thought they had equalized in the 22nd minute, but Pape Gueye’s effort was disallowed after a VAR review. Athletic Bilbao maintained control and went into halftime with a one-goal advantage.
Williams sealed the victory shortly after the break with a clinical finish, marking his fourth league goal of the season. This milestone comes just days after he celebrated his 10th anniversary at Athletic Bilbao, further cementing his legacy at the club.
The Ghanaian international has been in fine form, contributing to eight goals in 16 league appearances this season. Ernesto Valverde’s side will hope Williams’ consistent performances continue as they push for a strong finish in La Liga.
