Iñaki Williams delivered once again for Athletic Bilbao as he found the net in their final home match of the season, helping his side secure a 1–1 draw against Celta Vigo at San Mamés on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
The visitors made a bright start to the game and stunned the home supporters just four minutes in when Williot Swedberg finished off a well-worked move, assisted by Ilaix Moriba, to give Celta Vigo an early lead.
Athletic Bilbao gradually settled into the match and pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but they were unable to break through before halftime as the visitors held onto their advantage.
Shortly after the restart, Williams restored parity for the home side with a calm and composed finish. The forward reacted well to a precise cross from veteran left-back Yuri Berchiche, slotting home to level the score and lift the atmosphere inside San Mamés.
The strike marked another productive season for the 31-year-old attacker, who has contributed four goals and four assists across all competitions, maintaining his importance in Athletic Bilbao’s attacking setup with his pace, experience, and leadership.
Williams’ consistent performances continue to strengthen his case on the international stage, with strong expectations that he will be included in the Ghana national team squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.
Despite both sides pushing for a winner, neither could find a decisive goal, as the match ended level at 1–1 in Bilbao’s final home fixture of the campaign.
