Faruk Mohammed’s first-half strike proved decisive as Vision FC secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Week 33 of the Ghana Premier League.
The midfielder punished a costly goalkeeping error in the 37th minute, capitalising on a mistake by Nations FC goalkeeper Hadinu Bariu to calmly finish from close range against his former club in a tightly contested first half.
Nations FC started the match with brighter attacking intent and created early opportunities, but their lack of clinical finishing prevented them from taking the lead. Vision FC, however, stayed compact and dangerous on the break, gradually growing into the game.
After the interval, Vision FC goalkeeper Godwin Ametefe emerged as the standout performer, producing a string of vital saves to keep his side in front and eventually earning the Man of the Match award.
Ametefe denied Annor in the closing stages and later produced a dramatic stoppage-time penalty save from Bariu, who had been given a chance to redeem his earlier error but failed to convert from the spot.
The missed penalty proved costly for Nations FC, who remain in a dangerous position on the league table. The Abrankese-based side sit 16th with 41 points and now face a must-win final-day fixture away to Karela United.
For Vision FC, the victory significantly boosts their survival hopes. The Tema-based side have climbed to 12th place with 44 points and will conclude their season at home against Aduana FC, aiming to officially secure their top-flight status.
The result leaves the relegation battle finely poised heading into the final round of matches, with both teams still under pressure to secure their Ghana Premier League future.
