Ghanaian international Inaki Williams played a pivotal role in Athletic Club’s 2-0 victory against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night in the UEFA Europa League group stage.
The Black Stars forward, starting on the flank for the Spanish side, delivered a standout performance that inspired the team’s second group-stage win.
After a goalless first half, Inaki Williams broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute, capitalizing on an assist from his younger brother Nico Williams. His goal set the tone for Athletic Club’s resurgence, with Inaki maintaining his attacking threat throughout the full 90 minutes.
Nico Williams, who also impressed throughout the contest, further contributed by assisting Athletic’s second goal. In the 86th minute, he set up Oihan Sancet to double the lead and secure all three points for the team.
This crucial win elevates Athletic Club in the Europa League group standings as they push toward qualification for the knockout stage, with both Inaki and Nico Williams proving instrumental in their campaign.
