Brandon Thomas-Asante has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany after sustaining an injury over the weekend.
The forward was in action for Coventry City during their impressive 3-0 victory over Swansea City, but his outing was cut short in the 62nd minute when he was forced off due to a knock, with Josh Eccles coming on as his replacement.
The injury comes as a significant setback for Ghana’s technical team, who were counting on Thomas-Asante as part of their attacking options for the two high-profile test matches in Europe.
The Ghana national football team will first take on Austria on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart to face Germany three days later in what promises to be a stern examination.
These friendlies are part of Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging group alongside Panama, Croatia and England.
With preparations intensifying, the absence of Thomas-Asante will force the coaching staff to rethink their attacking options as they look to fine-tune the squad ahead of the global tournament.
