England’s Lionesses secured a confident 2–0 victory over Ghana’s Black Queens in an international friendly played today, with both sides using the match to assess their squads ahead of upcoming competitions.
The Lionesses took control of the game early, breaking the deadlock through Lucia Kendall, who finished off a well-built team move to give England the lead.
The Black Queens responded with determination, pressing higher and creating moments of danger, but were unable to convert their chances.

Ghana improved in the second half, showing more cohesion and forcing England to defend deeper at times. Despite the renewed energy from the Queens, the Lionesses sealed the win in additional time when Alessia Russo calmly converted a penalty to make it 2–0.

The match offered valuable lessons for the Black Queens, who continue to build a competitive team under their current technical setup. While the scoreline favoured England, Ghana’s performance—especially in the second half—showed promise and highlighted areas to strengthen ahead of future international assignments.
Both teams are expected to return to camp immediately to continue preparations for next year’s qualifiers and tournaments.
