Goalkeeper Joseph Tetteh Anang has earned his first call-up to Ghana’s senior national team for the 2025 Unity Cup, marking a significant personal and professional milestone in his football journey.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper, currently plying his trade with St. Patrick’s Athletic in the League of Ireland, steps up from his previous role with Ghana’s U23 team to the senior Black Stars, reflecting his impressive development and consistent performances in recent seasons.
Anang, born in Ghana and raised in the United Kingdom, rose through the ranks of West Ham United’s academy, where he received elite-level training despite limited opportunities in the Premier League. His progression was shaped by multiple loan spells, which helped him gain vital match experience and sharpen his skill set.
His switch to St. Patrick’s Athletic has been a turning point. Anang has become a key figure for the Irish side, with standout displays that include seven clean sheets in 18 league matches and three more in six UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying games this season. His agility, shot-stopping prowess, and strong command of the box have made him one of the most dependable keepers in the league.
