Former Black Stars winger, Otto Addo, in an interview with GTV, has revealed the approach the Black Stars must use in the upcoming AFCON 2023.
The former Ghana head coach said, “Step-by-step thinking is far better. If you are aiming too far away, it is difficult to fulfil them because you have to work on a daily basis.
“You have to train hard, you have
to win each game and the rest will come.
He continued when quizzed about the Black Stars’ chances of breaking the 41-year wait for the AFCON trophy.
“It doesn’t make sense to think always about the cup or whatever, you have to do your homework first.
“There is some work you have to put in to survive the group stage and go to the next stage and at the end to win it, it is so much work, added the former Black Stars boss.
Otto Addo talked about the mentality the whole Black Stars entourage should have during the tournament. He said, “A lot of mentalities- right thinking in every moment. Even if you have to win it, you have to know that you have to work harder to maintain this level so my advice is they should think from game to game”.
His message to Ghanaian spectator’s expectations is, “They shouldn’t think too far because each game has its own character”.
Ghana last won the AFCON in Libya in 1982 and a lot of work ought to be done before the long wait is over. In Group B, Ghana is placed alongside the 7 times winner, Egypt, minnows Cape Verde and Mozambique.
