Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo has welcomed the challenge that lies ahead at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Ivory Coast.
The Black Stars secured their qualification with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Central African Republic in Kumasi in early September, securing the top spot in their group.
Ghana had to overcome a one-goal deficit against CAR to secure their place in the AFCON.
Semenyo, who provided the crucial assist for the winning goal against CAR, is prepared to take on the challenge of the continental showpiece. The forward is expected to be part of Ghana’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
“It’s going to be tough, but I am ready to embrace that challenge,” he stated in an interview with AFCB TV ahead of Bournemouth’s EFL Cup game against Stoke City.
Reflecting on his performance against CAR, the Bournemouth attacker said, “It was a good, tough game, and the pitch was not in great condition. The opposition surprised us; they were really strong. I’m delighted to have come on and provided the assist for the winning goal.”
The tall forward has scored one goal in four matches in the English Premier League this season.
