Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed optimism ahead of the Black Stars’ critical doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The two Group F encounters, scheduled for this month, are pivotal for Ghana as they seek to strengthen their qualification hopes.
During the Black Stars’ first training session on Monday, Owusu addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming matches. He reassured Ghanaians that the team is fully focused on delivering strong performances and securing vital back-to-back victories.
“We know the game against Sudan is a very important game for us. We didn’t have a good game against the other teams. It’s going to be a difficult game for us, but we are going to stay together and do our best to win these two games,” Owusu stated.
The midfielder also expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support from fans, acknowledging their role in motivating the team. He reaffirmed the squad’s determination to make the country proud.
“We feel blessed to be here in Accra. I know the whole country is behind us, and we will do our maximum to put on a good performance for everyone,” he added.
Ghana will host Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with the match kicking off at 4 p.m. The Black Stars, eager to bounce back from recent setbacks, are determined to take a decisive step toward securing their place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
