Abdul Karim Zito, the head coach of Dreams FC, lamented his team’s semifinal exit from this season’s Ghana FA Cup, terming it as a typical twist in football fate.
In a thrilling showdown in Sogakope, Elijah Addai’s extra-time heroics secured a 2-1 victory for Bofoakwa Tano over the reigning champions, Dreams FC.
Despite a valiant effort from Dreams FC’s captain, Abdul Jalilu, who leveled Dacosta Abaogye’s opener, the match was forced into extra time where Bofoakwa Tano emerged triumphant, shattering Dreams FC’s hopes of retaining their title.
The loss not only marks the end of Dreams FC’s FA Cup journey but also means they won’t be returning to the CAF Confederation Cup, following their historic semifinal run earlier in the season.
Reflecting on the outcome, coach Abdul Karim Zito expressed a mix of emotions, acknowledging their impressive CAF Confederation Cup performance while accepting the unpredictable nature of football.
“Where we went out in the CAF Confederation, to me, we did better. For a longer period, we had not had a small team like Dreams FC to reach that stage,” Zito said after the game.
“You come to the FA Cup and we are out in the semifinals, it’s one of those things in football.”
