Hearts of Oak Communications Director Kwame Opare Addo has admitted the club’s disappointment following their 1-0 defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A first-half strike from Guinean forward Morifing Donzo proved decisive, ending Hearts of Oak’s unbeaten run in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Opare Addo conceded that the result was painful but maintained faith in the team’s ability to recover strongly in the coming fixtures.
“We didn’t get the three points we were hoping for, but there are still many games to play. I must admit it’s painful, but we have a strong squad, and we’ll continue to fight together with our fans,” he said.
He also appealed to the club’s supporters to remain united and supportive despite the setback.
“We all went through this together, and our goal was to finish the game on a positive note. No matter what has happened, let’s keep supporting the team — I believe we will get there,” he added.
The defeat leaves Hearts of Oak in sixth place on the league table with 16 points after nine matches. The Phobians will look to bounce back when they travel to face Swedru All Blacks in their Matchday 10 fixture this weekend.
