Asante Kotoko have made a decision to part company with midfielder Enock Morrison in preparation for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Morrison, who arrived at the club in 2022 from King Faisal FC, has been deemed surplus to requirements by the technical team led by Prosper Narteh Ogum following the conclusion of the season.
At just 24 years old, Morrison joins a list of over 20 players to be released by Asante Kotoko in the aftermath of the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season.
His contract, initially set to expire in June 2025, will be terminated in the coming days after coach Ogum communicated to the player that he cannot continue to work with him at the club.
Reacting to the news, Morrison said; “It’s somehow heartbreaking to me because this team has always been a team I wanted to play and win trophies but this news can’t break me down as a player but I am pained because I wanted to finish my contract in a very beautiful way so that I will leave in peaceful but I don’t know how this thing has happened but going forward, I will accept this in a good fate and move on with my career,” he told Kessben FM in an interview.
During the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign, Morrison showcased his talents with a goal and two assists in 22 league appearances for Asante Kotoko.
The decision to part ways with Morrison forms part of a broader restructuring at Asante Kotoko, prompted by the team’s failure to secure the Ghana Premier League title, culminating in a disappointing 6th place finish.
