Head coach of Nations FC, Kassim Ocansey Mingle, has expressed his disappointment following his team’s 2-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak in Accra on Friday night.
The Phobians hosted the Abrankese-based side at the Accra Sports Stadium in a Ghana Premier League matchweek 32 fixture. Hearts of Oak took an early lead with Kassim Cisse scoring in the 10th minute, assisted by Dennis Korsah. Hamza Issah doubled the advantage in the 15th minute, giving Hearts a comfortable cushion.
Despite multiple substitutions and attempts to regain midfield control, Nations FC couldn’t break through Hearts’ solid defense.
“It’s unfortunate we lost. We conceded two quick goals which were unpardonable, but what can we do? It’s football; it happens in the game. After we conceded the goals, then my boys started playing,” Mingle said in a post-match interview with StarTimes.
“They lost concentration at the start, which is why we conceded two quick goals. After that, they woke up and started playing, but unfortunately, we couldn’t equalize. That’s football,” he added.
Hearts have now jumped to 11th on the table after the win and will go into the remaining two Premier League matches with huge optimism.
Nation FC’s quest to challenge for the Premier League title is now off the radar following the defeat as they trail leaders FC Samartex 1996 by seven points with just two games to end the season.
Hearts of Oak will face Accra Great Olympics next, while Nations FC will play Bechem United.
