Following Hearts of Oak’s convincing 2-0 win against Nations FC, coach Aboubakar Ouattara has set his sights on securing the team’s Premier League status. The victory, powered by goals from Kassim Cisse and Hamza Issah, propelled Hearts from 15th to 11th place on the table, injecting optimism for their upcoming matches.
Speaking to StarTimes, Ouattara expressed satisfaction with the win and stressed the importance of focusing on the next challenge, a local derby against struggling Great Olympics.
“We got the three points, and that’s the important thing. Now, we are thinking about the next match,” he emphasized.
Despite the victory, Ouattara acknowledged the challenges faced, including injuries and a determined Nations FC. He reiterated the team’s commitment to survival, recognizing the unwavering support from the fans.
“The second half was challenging. We encountered setbacks like injuries. Nations FC put up a good fight, but fortunately, we scored two early goals which favored us. We tried to maintain possession, but it wasn’t easy.”
When asked about his satisfaction with his team’s performance, he emphasized their dedication to the fans and the club’s survival mission.
“They played for them (fans), but first of all, we are trying to survive because when you look at all these people (fans) coming to support us, it’s not easy. The fans love their club, and that’s what we are coming together to try to save – the family,” he explained.
Hearts of Oak’s upcoming fixtures include an away clash against Great Olympics followed by a trip to Bechem United, marking the conclusion of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
