Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo expressed deep disappointment following their 3-2 loss to Accra Lions, emphasizing the need to acknowledge the opponent’s commendable performance.

The Porcupine Warriors found themselves trailing early in the match, conceding the opening goal just 11 minutes in, courtesy of Blessing Asumah Dankwah. However, Kola Ouattarq’s equalizer before halftime provided a glimmer of hope for Kotoko.

Reflecting on the outcome, Ocloo conceded that losing to Accra Lions was indeed disheartening, acknowledging the opponent’s superior performance.

“Yes, like you rightly said, it is very, very disappointing. But congratulations to Accra Lions, they played well and they deserved to win,” he expressed in an interview with StarTimes after the game.

Ocloo highlighted the importance of physicality in modern football, noting that Accra Lions outpaced and outperformed Kotoko in this aspect, ultimately securing the victory.

“Accra Lions run more than us; football now is about running and they did it better than us today and they got the game.”

Despite the setback, Asante Kotoko maintains their position as the fourth team in the league standings with 32 points, trailing leaders Samartex by three points.

Meanwhile, Accra Lions’ triumph has propelled them from 14th to 10th place on the table, amassing 27 points from 20 matches.
