Ghana international Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is on the verge of completing a permanent move back to Charlton Athletic, with the Crystal Palace winger undergoing the final stages of his transfer to The Valley.
The 23-year-old attacker has reportedly arrived at Charlton’s Sparrows Lane training ground for his medical as the Championship club work to finalise an agreement with Crystal Palace.
According to reports from Sky Sports, the Addicks are close to securing the permanent signing of Rak-Sakyi, ending his long-standing association with the Premier League outfit after several years of development at Selhurst Park.
The move represents an important new chapter for the London-born winger, who joined Crystal Palace’s academy in 2019 after previously spending time in Chelsea’s youth setup.
From Palace Academy Star To Charlton Favourite
Rak-Sakyi announced himself as one of Palace’s brightest young talents during the 2021/22 season, when he enjoyed a remarkable campaign with the club’s Under-21 side.
The winger finished as the Premier League 2 top scorer after netting 18 goals, earning recognition for his explosive pace, creativity and attacking ability.
His impressive performances earned him a new five-year contract with Palace in 2022 before he joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.
His first spell at The Valley was a huge success, as Rak-Sakyi registered 15 goals and nine assists in 49 appearances across all competitions, quickly becoming one of the most exciting young attackers in League One.
Struggles For Regular Palace Football
Despite his promise, breaking into Crystal Palace’s senior team on a consistent basis proved challenging.
Rak-Sakyi continued his development through a series of loan spells, featuring for Sheffield United, Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor and Stoke City as he searched for regular first-team opportunities.
During the 2025/26 season, he started the campaign with Rizespor before joining Stoke City in February. After returning to Palace at the end of the season, the club appeared ready to sanction a permanent departure, with his contract running until June 2027.
Ghana Debut Adds New Dimension To Career
The transfer comes after Rak-Sakyi achieved another major milestone by making his senior international debut for Ghana.
Having switched his allegiance from England, the winger earned his first Black Stars appearance against Mexico in May. He started the friendly and played 65 minutes before being substituted as Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat.
A permanent return to Charlton could now provide the stability and consistent playing time needed for Rak-Sakyi to continue his international journey and rediscover the form that made him one of England’s most exciting young attackers.
Charlton Expect Impact From Ghana Star
Charlton have made an impressive start to the new Championship season, recording victories over Derby County and West Ham United in their opening matches.
The arrival of Rak-Sakyi is expected to strengthen their attacking options, adding pace, creativity and a proven goal threat to their squad.
