English-born winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has received his maiden senior international call-up after being included in Ghana’s squad for their upcoming friendly against Mexico on Saturday in Puebla.

The talented wide player is expected to arrive in camp today in Puebla, Mexico, as he links up with the Black Stars ahead of the high-profile international fixture scheduled for 23rd May at 3:00 BST.

Rak-Sakyi’s inclusion comes on the back of an impressive loan spell at Stoke City, where he has steadily grown in influence since joining during the January transfer window. The winger has made 15 appearances for the Championship side, contributing important goals against Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday, while also earning praise for his pace, directness and attacking intelligence.

His performances in England have not gone unnoticed by Ghana’s technical handlers, with head coach Carlos Queiroz rewarding him with a place in a 23-man squad assembled as part of the team’s ongoing assessment process ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The friendly against Mexico is expected to serve as a key evaluation platform, with the coaching staff using the match to assess both established internationals and emerging talents as they edge closer to final squad selection. Ghana are set to face England, Croatia and Panama in Group L at the tournament, making competition for places extremely intense.

Rak-Sakyi is among several fresh faces invited into the squad as Queiroz continues to refine his final selection, which is expected to be announced on 1st June.

The Black Stars’ core group is expected to include experienced figures such as Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Iñaki Williams, who will all return following their club commitments.

For Rak-Sakyi, this call-up represents a major milestone in his international career, having previously featured for England at youth level before committing his future to Ghana. His arrival in Puebla marks the beginning of what could be a defining moment in his progression at senior international level.
