Jonah Kusi-Asare marked a major step in his career on Saturday, April 26, as the 17-year-old Swedish-Ghanaian striker made his first appearance in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich.
Kusi-Asare entered the match in the 88th minute, coming on for Harry Kane during Bayern’s encounter with FSV Mainz 05 on Matchday 31.
Since joining Bayern, the young forward has been steadily making a name for himself. Signed on February 1, 2024, for a reported fee of €4.5 million, Kusi-Asare initially started with Bayern’s under-19 team. His impressive displays quickly earned him a move up to Bayern Munich II ahead of the 2024–25 season.
He made his debut for Bayern Munich II on August 30, 2024, featuring in a Regionalliga Bayern match that ended 1–1 against DJK Vilzing. His rapid progress did not go unnoticed, leading to his first senior team call-up for a Bundesliga match against Mainz 05 on December 14, 2024, a game Bayern narrowly lost 2–1.
Earlier this year, Kusi-Asare also gained valuable experience during a winter friendly on January 6, 2025, when he came off the bench to replace Michael Olise in the 63rd minute of Bayern’s commanding 6–0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg.
