Asante Kotoko has officially terminated the contract of forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu due to health-related reasons.
The decision comes after a thorough medical assessment revealed issues that could potentially sideline the player for an extended period.
The employment contract was initiated three weeks ago to meet registration deadlines set by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). As part of the standard procedure, the player underwent a pre-competition medical assessment, which initially raised concerns.
Further tests conducted by the club’s medical team disclosed additional health-related issues, leading to the decision to end the contract.
With the GFA rejecting Fatawu’s registration, Asante Kotoko concluded that maintaining the employment relationship would not be in the best interest of both the club and the player. The specifics of the medical condition have been communicated to Fatawu.
The club expressed its well wishes for Abdul Fatawu Safiu’s future endeavors, emphasizing that he remains part of the Kotoko family.
The door is open for him to serve in any capacity in the future, according to the club.
