Asante Kotoko has secured the future of their vice-captain, Justice Blay, by extending his contract until 2026. The experienced midfielder’s initial deal was set to end in January 2025, but after productive discussions, the club confirmed the new agreement on Thursday through their social media channels.
“We are excited to announce that Vice-Captain Justice Blay has signed a new deal to stay with Asante Kotoko for an additional one and a half years,” the club revealed in an official statement.
“This extension reflects Blay’s unwavering commitment to the club and his desire to help us achieve our goals,” the statement added.
Blay first joined the Porcupine Warriors on loan during the 2019/2020 season from Medeama SC, quickly proving his worth with two goals in 12 appearances. His impressive form earned him a permanent transfer in the 2021/2022 season. Since then, the industrious midfielder has played 56 league games and has become a vital part of the squad.
So far this season, Blay has participated in 12 of the club’s 15 Ghana Premier League matches, scoring once. His leadership and consistent performances have made him a fan favorite and a cornerstone of Kotoko’s success.
By extending Blay’s contract, Kotoko not only bolster their midfield but also secure his experience and leadership as they pursue their long-term objectives.
