Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko has secured the services of their influential vice-captain, Justice Blay, with a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2026. The tireless midfielder, who has become a cornerstone in Coach Prosper Ogum’s plans, reaffirmed his loyalty to the Porcupine Warriors.
Blay’s previous deal was set to expire this year, but his consistent performances and dedication laid the foundation for a successful negotiation, extending his stay by an additional one and a half years.
Announcing the deal, the club stated: “We are excited to announce that Vice-Captain Justice Blay has signed a new deal to stay with Asante Kotoko for an additional one and a half years. This extension reflects Blay’s unwavering commitment to the club and his desire to help us achieve our goals.”
Blay’s journey with Kotoko began on loan from Medeama SC during the 2019/2020 season. He wasted no time in making an impression, scoring two goals in 12 league matches. His impact during that period earned him a permanent move in the 2021/2022 season, and he has since solidified his role in the team with 56 league appearances to date.
Expressing his excitement about the extension, Blay shared his devotion to the club: “Kotoko is my home. I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me and the incredible support from the fans. I’m ready to continue giving my all for this badge,” he told the club’s media team.
This season, Blay has featured in 12 of Kotoko’s 15 Ghana Premier League matches, scoring once. Known for his hard tackling and relentless work ethic, he has become an irreplaceable figure in midfield and a fan favorite.
By extending Blay’s contract, Kotoko not only retain a key player but also underline their ambition to build a team capable of competing at the highest level.
