Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara has revealed that South African giants Kaizer Chiefs made direct contact with him following his standout display in the recent Toyota Cup clash between the two clubs.

The Guinean international produced a heroic performance in the match, saving four penalties to inspire Kotoko to victory over the Glamour Boys, a display that immediately caught the attention of the Soweto-based side.

“I was approached after our friendly match. They appreciated my performance, especially the four penalties saved,” Camara told Africa Foot in an interview.

“We had a long conversation. I told them to contact my club, as I still have a one-year contract. It’s nice to see the interest from a historic club like Kaizer Chiefs.”

Camara, who joined Kotoko in 2023, has established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League, drawing admiration not only in Ghana but also across the continent. His performances have now sparked interest from several clubs beyond South Africa.

“There are other clubs in Morocco and two in Europe who have also contacted me for information, but nothing concrete yet,” the 25-year-old confirmed.

Despite the transfer speculation, the Guinean shot-stopper insists he remains fully committed to Kotoko’s campaign, stressing that he is focused on improving his game rather than contract negotiations.

“I am ready to see out my contract. For now, there is no question of an extension. I am keeping my head up and working even harder to have a better season,” Camara added.

With his contract set to run until June 2026, Kotoko face a crucial decision over whether to cash in on their prized goalkeeper or keep him as they prepare for both domestic and continental competitions this season.
