Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to begin an exciting new chapter in his football journey, with a move to Italian Serie A side Atalanta now all but confirmed. The 22-year-old has reportedly completed his medicals and is on the verge of being unveiled by the Bergamo-based club.
Atalanta and English club Southampton have reached a full agreement for Sulemana’s transfer in a deal worth €17.5 million, with an additional €4 million in potential performance-related bonuses. As part of the agreement, Southampton will retain a 15% sell-on clause, ensuring they benefit from any future transfer involving the Ghanaian forward.
Sulemana is expected to sign a four-year contract with Atalanta, which also includes an option for a one-year extension. This move marks his first foray into Italian football, following earlier stints in Denmark with FC Nordsjaelland and in France with Stade Rennais.
After joining Southampton in January 2023 for a club-record fee, Sulemana made 26 Premier League appearances during the 2023/24 season and scored once. Although the Saints endured a difficult campaign—finishing bottom of the table—Sulemana stood out with his blistering pace, dribbling ability, and attacking flair.
His performances caught the attention of Atalanta’s scouting team, and the Italian side is confident the Black Stars winger will add a new dimension to their attack under manager Gian Piero Gasperini. With European competition on the horizon, Sulemana will be looking to reignite his career and make a strong impression in Serie A.
