Kofi Adams, the Minister for Sports and Recreation nominee, has emphasized the importance of diversifying income streams for various sports disciplines to ensure sustainability and growth.
He highlighted the need for multiple revenue sources, stating that this aligns with past discussions in Parliament about financial stability in sports. Adams believes such efforts will help achieve his vision of creating more sustainable funding for all sports disciplines.
“I think that is already being looked at. I remember in Parliament issues were raised about this,” he said. “The only unfortunate thing is that we couldn’t take the report of the committee that went into looking into areas of the sports before the 8th Parliament was terminated.”
Adams assured that efforts will continue with the current Parliament to address these concerns. “The 9th Parliament is back, and we will see what we can do about that report. Whether it will be re-tabled or referred to the committee again, they will look at it and submit it.”
He concluded by stating that no possibilities are being ruled out. “So we are not ruling out anything. Let’s go through the processes first, settle, and then we’ll see what we need and what will come out of the new technology,” Adams added.
