Top Ghanaian musician and football enthusiast Kofi Kinaata has called on the Black Stars technical team to focus on four players who impressed during Ghana’s recent Unity Cup clash against Nigeria.
Known offstage as Martin King Arthur, Kinaata praised Caleb Yirenkyi, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Brandon Thomas Asante, and Ebenezer Annan for their outstanding performances, despite Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to the Super Eagles on Wednesday.
Bonsu Baah and Yirenkyi both made their senior national team debuts in the match, while Thomas Asante, who plays for Coventry City in England, scored Ghana’s only goal by connecting with a superb cross from left-back Ebenezer Annan in the second half.
Following the game, Kinaata took to social media to share his thoughts, posting:
“APPRECIATION POST: Christopher Baah Bonsu, Caleb Yirenkyi, Ebenezer Annan and Brandon Thomas Asante. These players must be given special attention in future! Ghana Black Stars.”
The Black Stars now turn their attention to a third-place playoff against Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, following the loss to Nigeria.
The 2025 Unity Cup has provided head coach Otto Addo with an opportunity to test new talent, including debutants like Union Saint Gilloise forward Mohammed Fuseini, as Ghana looks to build a stronger squad for future competitions.
