Asante Kotoko’s assistant coach, David Ocloo, has attributed their 3-1 victory over Legon Cities to head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Dr. Ogum was absent from the dugout at the WAFA Park on Saturday, November 25, 2023, as his team secured their second consecutive win. Despite his absence, Ocloo emphasized the significant role Ogum played in the team’s success.
Ogum is currently participating in a FIFA/CAF Coach Education Pathway Course in Accra.
Legon Cities took the lead with Nasiru Moro’s well-executed free-kick in the 26th minute. However, Suleman Mohammed’s own goal in the 66th minute leveled the score for The Porcupine Warriors.
Lamptey assisted Mukwala in scoring Kotoko’s second goal in the 74th minute, and Isaac Oppong sealed the victory with a goal in stoppage time.
Expressing his excitement, Ocloo dedicated the win to the off-duty head coach, saying, “I will dedicate this win to our boss, Doctor (Ogum). He’s been a marvelous boss so far. I really thank him for this opportunity and also for the inspiring pep talk during recess. It has been a wonderful pep talk. It really inspired the boys, and they pushed hard.”
The victory moved Kotoko to 7th place in the league standings with 16 points. They will return to Kumasi to host Berekum Chelsea in their next game.
