Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has called on the club’s faithful to exercise patience as he continues efforts to steady the team and improve results amid growing pressure.

The experienced tactician has found himself under the spotlight following a run of mixed performances in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, with sections of the fanbase questioning the team’s progress. After 21 league matches, the Porcupine Warriors sit fifth on the table with 35 points, while also keeping their FA Cup hopes alive by reaching the Round of 16.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Zito reaffirmed his commitment to the club and expressed confidence that the season is far from over. He insisted that time and unity are needed to help the team rediscover consistency.

“I have never been dismissed as a head coach. When a club appoints me, I work until the end. This is my club and I understand how the fans react,” Zito said.

The Kotoko boss stressed that his side remain firmly in the title race, pointing out that 14 league games are still to be played.

“We are currently fifth and it’s not finished. With the number of matches left, we are still competing for the league title. I am only appealing to the fans to be patient, and the wins will come,” he added.

Zito also acknowledged the personal toll of the criticism but maintained his understanding of the supporters’ frustrations.

“Sometimes my children are affected, but I keep reminding them that this is part of the job. The fans have the right to protest, but patience is very important,” he noted.

Attention now turns to a crucial run of fixtures for Kotoko. The Porcupine Warriors will host Aduana FC in the FA Cup Round of 16 at the Baba Yara Stadium this weekend, before welcoming arch-rivals Hearts of Oak for a high-stakes Matchday 22 clash in the Ghana Premier League next weekend.
