The head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has emphasized that the club should not only receive support but also be held in reverence.
Ogum’s re-introduction to the team was marked on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the conference hall of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, marking his second tenure with the Porcupine Warriors.
Addressing the audience during the unveiling, Ogum expressed,“Kotoko is a club we don’t support but we worship, and that is why I’m honored to be the head coach”.
He continued, “I am pleading with everybody that all of us should be united. The past is past. Let’s forgive those who offended us in the past and move on. That’s the only way we can take Kotoko back to its glory days.”
During his initial tenure, Ogum achieved remarkable feats, including clinching the Ghana Premier League title. His departure from the club was due to disagreements with the management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah. Nevertheless, the club’s owner, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, played a pivotal role in facilitating Ogum’s return to Asante Kotoko.
At present, Ogum is an integral part of the Interim Management Committee, a group established by Otumfuo to oversee the club’s day-to-day operations in the absence of the board of directors and management.
The Porcupine Warriors will inaugurate their new season by hosting the Accra Lions on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
