Amid Asante Kotoko’s recent slump in form, former player George Kennedy advocates for a thorough investigation into the club’s performance, encompassing scrutiny of both players and fans alike.
With the club enduring a string of disappointing results, including a disheartening 1-0 home defeat to Nations FC over the weekend, the pressure has intensified on head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, who finds himself at the center of criticism.
Having suffered defeats in all of their last four Ghana Premier League matches, Kotoko has witnessed a significant drop in the standings, slipping from third to ninth place.
In response to the team’s struggles, George Kennedy emphasizes the need for accountability across all aspects of the club. He argues against placing sole blame on the head coach, advocating instead for a holistic examination of every department.
“Instead of blaming a single person for all the issues, we should investigate every department, starting with the playing body and working our way down to the supporting base, legends, management, and finally the technical team,” he told Akoma FM.
Acknowledging the mounting pressure on the coach, Kennedy highlights the tendency to assign blame amidst challenges but stresses the importance of a comprehensive approach to addressing the club’s issues.
“When something goes wrong, we usually assign blame to someone, especially since the coach is under a lot of pressure right now.”
