The Black Stars have qualifed to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as winners of Group E.

The Black Stars defeated Central Africa Republic 2-1 in their final Group E game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah got the two goals as the Black Stars came from behind to pick the three points.

Ghana topped the group with 12 points with Angola picking the second spot with 9 points.

Below are the ratings of the Black Stars players who featured in the game against Central Africa Republic:

Lawrence Ati Zigi – 6.5

Ati Zigi had a good game in general with some good saves especially the ones in made in the first ten minutes of the game.

However, he committed a blunder by not calculating has runs well when he stepped out of his line and that resulted in the Central Africa Republic game.

Alidu Seidu – 7.3

Alidu Seidu perhaps was one of the best performers in the game if not the every best.

His defensive duties were on point and he provided stability at Ghana’s right side of defense.

Joseph Aidoo 7.3 – Alexander Djiku 6.8

Joseph Aidoo and Djiku played together for the first time and they were both solid in protecting Ghana’s backline.

Aidoo was slightly better in this game over Djiku as his blocks and interceptions saved the Black Stars a lot especially when they were caught on the break.

Baba Rahman – 5

Baba Rahman returned to the team for the first time under Chris Hughton but his performance was not at the level many expected as he struggled to bring stability to the left side of defense resulting in his substitution.

Nevertheless, Baba Rahman had a pretty decent game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Abdul Salis 7.1, Samed Elisha Owusu 6.8

The defensive midfield duo couldn’t control the game for the entire 90 minutes like many expected but they gave the defense the best cover they could have in the game.

Salis in particular added more responsibility to the game by doing the box to box job hence his higher rating over Elisha Owusu.

Osman Bukari – 5.5

Osman was a little bit decent but he couldn’t meet the bar he has set for himself since making his debut in 2022.

He was expected to rain hell on the Central Africa Republic defense but he couldn’t do it like he has been doing in the previous games.

Nevertheless his performance was slightly above average and that’s explains his 5.5 rating.

Mohammed Kudus – 7

The West Ham United man showed up when he was needed most and he produced the perfect response when Ghana needed a goal most in the game.

Aside his game, Kudus was perhaps the most influential Black Stars attacker who started the game against Central Africa Republic.

Jordan Ayew – 6.2

He captain the game in the absence of all the captains and lasted the entire duration of the match.

Jordan’s hardwork in the game was glaring for all to see as he supported both the attack and the defense when under pressure.

Inaki Williams – 6.8

He couldn’t score but perhaps Inaki Williams had one of his best Black Stars game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

He made some brilliant runs in behind and created a couple of chances but his teammates couldn’t make them count.
