Asante Kotoko has been instructed by Kumasi High Court 7 to pay GHC69,960 owed to Noks Hotel Asokwa during the previous administration’s tenure.
The debt was incurred as some club officials and players stayed at the Kumasi-based hotel between 2018 and 2020. Former CEO of the club, George Amoako, former management member Edmund Ackah, and two players of the club, Zabo and Habib, lived at the hotel for seven months.
In addition, Ghana Football Association officials who were in Kumasi to watch the club during the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup games also stayed at the hotel.
According to Oyerepa FM, a Kumasi-based radio station, the judgement was issued on Wednesday, April 5th.
Despite the debt issue, the Ghana Premier League defending champions, Asante Kotoko, will face regional rivals King Faisal FC in an outstanding matchweek 22 game of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The game will kick off at 7 pm.
