Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has vowed that the club will not finish the 2024/25 season without a trophy, insisting that the team is fully focused on ending the campaign on a high.
His bold declaration came after a standout performance in Kotoko’s 4-1 demolition of Dreams FC, where he scored twice and provided an assist, helping the Porcupine Warriors move within just three points of league leaders Nations FC with three matches remaining.
The win lifts Kotoko to fourth place on the Ghana Premier League table with 54 points, reigniting their title hopes and boosting confidence ahead of the season’s final stretch.
Opoku, who rejoined Kotoko in December 2024, has now tallied 10 goals in all competitions, and his form has proven vital as the club pushes for silverware on multiple fronts.
Speaking to the media after the match, the 24-year-old forward stressed the team’s commitment to ending the season with a trophy.
“For the FA Cup, we can’t go trophyless this season — no, it’s not happening,” Opoku said. “We’re hoping that by the end of the season, we’ll lift a trophy. If not the league, then we must win the FA Cup for Asanteman.”
Kotoko are still in contention for both the Ghana Premier League title and the MTN FA Cup. They will face Golden Kick in the FA Cup final on June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium, as they aim to capture their 10th title in the competition and bring joy to their supporters in Kumasi.
