Former Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingston, has secured a new coaching position at RPS Academies in Saint Lucie, Florida, where he will focus on developing the next generation of football talents.
The multi-sport academy, which emphasizes both athletic and academic growth, will benefit from Kingston’s extensive experience in nurturing young players.
The former Ghana international, who holds a UEFA License B coaching certificate, expressed his excitement about the new challenge. Despite leaving the Black Starlets role during the U-17 WAFU B Championship in Accra, Kingston is optimistic about his new venture in the United States.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, Kingston shared his thoughts: “I had other coaching opportunities, but this option is very good for me.” He noted that RPS Academies had been monitoring his coaching career before approaching him with the role, which aligns well with his experience from his time at the Right to Dream Academy.
“I am very much at home working in an environment that combines education with sports performance, but with even bigger responsibilities this time,” he said. Kingston also plans to expand the academy’s talent pool by scouting more African players, particularly from West Africa, to enrich the football program.
Kingston, who signed a five-year deal, is set to begin work on September 1. He has previously coached at Right to Dream Academy and served as an under-18 coach for Danish club FC Nordsjaelland.
RPS Academies offer training in various sports including football, tennis, golf, volleyball, and pickleball, while maintaining a strong focus on academic development.
