Mario Marinica has been appointed as the new head coach for the Liberian national team.
The Romanian head coach, Marinica will replace Ansau Keita who was in charge of the Lone Stars in 2023.
Mario Marinica, 59, was the head coach of Malawi between 2021 – 2023 where he led the Flames of Malawi to the Round 16 of the 2021 AFCON and eventually lost 2-1 to Morocco.
The Romanian is tasked to qualify Liberia for the 2025 AFCON.
“I am excited but don’t have anything to prove ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifier later this year,” said Mario Marinica during his unveiling.
Marinica has a lot to prove because he has a daunting assignment of qualifying Liberia for their first-ever AFCON since 2002 as the Lone Stars have missed the last 11 AFCONs.
