Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi have parted ways with Ghanaian striker Albert Amoah, only three months after his high-profile transfer from Asante Kotoko, according to sources from Oyerepa FM.
The club is reported to have offered Amoah $30,000 as compensation, equivalent to three months of his salary, as part of the contract termination agreement. The decision comes as a surprise, given the striker’s status as one of Ghana’s promising talents.
Amoah had joined Al Ahly Benghazi with expectations of making a major impact, but his short stint in Libya now leaves his career path uncertain. The forward is expected to explore new opportunities, whether elsewhere in Africa or overseas.
This latest development adds to a growing trend of Ghanaian players experiencing brief spells abroad, underscoring the challenges of quickly adapting to new leagues and environments.
Al Ahly Benghazi have not publicly commented on the reasons for Amoah’s early release, leaving fans and football analysts speculating whether performance issues, managerial decisions, or off-field factors influenced the move.
Since returning to Kotoko on loan, Amoah has rediscovered his scoring touch, registering a goal and an assist in the Ghana Premier League, bringing his tally to four goals this season. His performances suggest that he could still play a key role for clubs looking for a proven striker.
