Former skipper of the senior national team, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has opened up about his wonder-kid playing for Ghana at the Juvenile level.
The son of the former Ghana captain, Charles Kwablan Hermann recently won the FIFA-U17 Word cup with Germany.
In an interview with Graphic Sports on the possibility of his son representing Ghana at the youth level, the ex-Hearts of Oak coach is of the view that we can recruit other talented locals to the Black starlets for now. The former Black star player said things could change when he gets to the peak of his carrier and decides to play for Ghana.
“at their age, we are not good with these under 17 things, and who would pay for a ticket for somebody to come to Africa for under -17? Another thing too is that maybe they (GFA) should look at local talents in Ghana and use them” the ex-player said.
The words of the former coach is somewhat in contrast when Andre Dede Ayew left his club Arles Avignon to play for the Black Starlets when he helped the team win the under -20 World Cup in Egypt.
The Executive council of the Ghana Football Association sacked CK Akonnor and his two assistants in September 2021 after a string of poor performances.
