The imaginative midfield player was born in Zadar, Croatia, on September 9, 1985.

He was raised in a difficult setting during the Croatian War of Independence, according to accounts.

When Luka was younger, he started playing football at NK Zadar. At the age of sixteen, he subsequently joined the Dinamo Zagreb youth squad in 2001. Following that, in 2002, the Croatian was loaned to Zrinjski Mostar, where he performed admirably.

He won the Bosnian league’s player of the season award thanks to his genius. In 2004, he was once again loaned to Inter Zapresic.

After playing for Zrinjski and Zapresic and scoring 12 goals in 40 games, Luka came back to Zagreb and agreed to a 10-year deal with the team. The midfield player helped Dinamo Zagreb win the league in the 2005–06 season by scoring seven goals in thirty-one games.

The next season, he helped Zagreb retain their league crown with six goals and ten assists.

The Croatian defeated Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 to take home the prized Ballon d’Or award. In addition, he ended up being the first player from Croatia to be named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
