Manchester United’s coach, Erik ten Hag, shared his thoughts on Nathan Omari Forson’s debut performance in their recent match against Fulham.
Forson, a 19-year-old Ghanaian-English winger, earned his first start for the senior team as they aimed to continue their unbeaten streak. However, despite their efforts, they suffered a 2-1 defeat, with Fulham’s Alex Iwobi scoring a late goal.
Forson’s presence on the pitch ended in the 53rd minute when he was replaced by Christian Eriksen. Reflecting on his performance, Ten Hag described it as “reasonable,” acknowledging his defensive contributions and abilities in possession.
He praised Forson for his reliability in defense and noted some positive actions during possession. Ten Hag also expressed satisfaction with Forson’s debut, stating that he “deserves to play.”
Forson’s journey into the senior team includes two appearances in the Premier League. Notably, he made an impact in his first appearance by providing an assist against Wolves at the beginning of February. This performance showcased his potential and earned him a spot in the starting lineup against Fulham.
Overall, Forson’s debut may not have ended in victory for Manchester United, but his contributions were noted by the coach. With promising displays both defensively and offensively, Forson’s performance offers optimism for his future role within the team.
As he continues to gain experience and adapt to the demands of top-flight football, his development could prove significant for Manchester United’s aspirations.
