Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu played a crucial role for Monaco as they secured a 3-2 victory against RC Lens on Saturday in a thrilling French Ligue 1 game.
Salisu, who joined Monaco from Southampton in the summer, made his mark by providing an important assist, his first goal contribution in eight matches for his new team. He delivered a precise long pass to Folarin Balogun, who displayed great skill and strength to score confidently in the 19th minute, giving Monaco the lead.
Shortly after, Lens managed to equalize when goalkeeper Samba couldn’t stop Minamino’s powerful shot from finding the back of the net.
Despite Lens’ efforts, Monaco regained the lead, but Lens quickly responded, with Elye Wahi scoring controversially to narrow the gap.
The game remained intense, and Lens eventually leveled the score, thanks to Wesley Saïd’s rebound goal after his initial shot was saved by Radosław Majecki.
In the dying moments of the match, Minamino sealed the victory for Monaco with a spectacular strike from the right flank, securing three valuable points for his team.
