Last summer, United announced a number of players who were dropped from the squad. Amongst them was the goalkeeper Paul Woolston. This is due to the bad luck he suffered throughout his two years at the club.

Despite no one confirming exactly what has occurred with Paul Woolston, ‘AS’ has reported a hip injury pushed him into making the decision of retiring early at just 23 years of age.

“Never thought I would have to write this at 23 but this chapter has come to an end. I can look back proudly at what I’ve achieved in my career but I am excited about what’s in store for the future. A new chapter awaits”, wrote the keeper on his social media.

Paul Woolston shared the dressing room with Dean Henderson on a number of occasions as the pair are from the same generation. Both Henderson and De Gea have wished him well in his next step in life.

Woolston had to undergo surgery twice between March and April 2021. After a long period of rehabilitation, the goalkeeper has had enough and looks for new experiences in life away from the footballing world.
