Thai football powerhouse Buriram United has bolstered their attack with the signing of experienced striker Martin Boakye for the second half of the season.

The 29-year-old Italian-Ghanaian forward arrives from Chinese Super League side Qingdao Hainiu, bringing a wealth of experience from various leagues around the world. Buriram United hopes Boakye’s proven scoring ability will enhance their quest for success.

Born in Valdagno, Italy, Boakye began his football journey with UCD Solisinese before progressing to Austria’s lower leagues. During his time at FC Kitzbühel, he scored an impressive 33 goals in 74 appearances. He later showcased his talents in Luxembourg with Jeunesse Club and Croatia’s top-tier league with Slaven Belupo.

Boakye’s career then took him to Asia, where he excelled in Uzbekistan with FC Andijan and FC OKMK Almalyk. His spell at OKMK was particularly fruitful, as he scored 32 goals in 85 appearances and competed in the AFC Champions League 2023/24, netting twice in seven matches.

Speaking about his new challenge, Boakye said, “I’m excited to join Buriram United and contribute to the team’s success. I’m ready to bring my experience and skills to help achieve our goals.”

With his versatility and proven track record, Boakye is set to play a crucial role in Buriram United’s ambitions for silverware this season. Fans eagerly await his debut as the team looks to strengthen their position in the Thai football scene.
