Martin Boakye was on target as Buriram United played out an exciting 2-2 draw against Gwangju FC in the AFC Champions League Elite East Round 8 on Tuesday.
The match at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium started with the visitors in control. Buriram took the lead in the 13th minute when Bissoli capitalized on a precise assist from Suphanat Mueanta to find the back of the net. Boakye then doubled their advantage in the 35th minute, finishing clinically from the center of the box after a well-placed pass from Bissoli.
Holding a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime, Buriram seemed in command, but Gwangju responded strongly in the second half. Oh Hu-Seong pulled one back in the 68th minute with a precise strike into the bottom corner. Just six minutes later, he completed his brace, taking advantage of a set-piece situation to bring the hosts level.
Boakye, who impressed with his movement and finishing, was substituted in the 69th minute as Buriram fought to secure a point. The Thai club will now shift their attention to their upcoming league fixture against Muang Thong United on February 23.
