In the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League campaign, Aduana Stars emerged victorious over Bechem United at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday, securing a second-place finish.
The Ogya boys had initially been in a prime position to clinch their third Ghana Premier League title, but a dip in form throughout the season hindered their aspirations.
Before the final round of games, Bechem United and Aduana Stars occupied the 2nd and 3rd spots on the league standings, boasting 54 and 52 points, respectively.
Bechem United only needed a draw to secure the second position, but the two-time Ghana Premier League champions dashed their hopes with a 1-0 victory, surpassing them on the league table.
Despite both teams creating scoring opportunities, the first half ended goalless with no team finding the back of the net.
After the halftime interval, Aduana Stars elevated their performance and managed to break the deadlock through a goal from Isaac Mintah.
With no further goals scored, the Ogya boys sealed a narrow victory, earning the full three points at stake.
This win propelled Aduana Stars to a commendable second-place finish with 55 points in the 2022/23 season, while Bechem United settled for third place with 52 points.
