Medeama Sporting Club won their first Ghana Premier League title on Sunday, June 11, with a 3-0 victory over Tamale City at Akoon Park.
With a three-point lead at the top of the table, the Mauve and Yellows needed just a draw to secure the league title coming into the last game of the season.
However, a Jonathan Sowah hat-trick ensured Evans Adotey’s side took all three points and became Ghana’s top division champions for the first time in their history.
After just securing promotion at the end of last season, the Tamale-based club makes a rapid return to Division One League football.
Kofi Kinaata, the four-time Ghana Music Awards Song Writer of the Year, was present at Akoon Park to watch the match in his vibrant Medeama shirt.
